Quite agree but personally I prefer to breed from pigs that are not as closely related. Mildred’s (our sow) father is the same as the weaners grandfather and for us that is too close. We like to keep the genes spread more. Of course when picking our new boar we will be looking for good legs/conformation and all of the other things that make a good boar but we also want it to be not as closely related.
