We have the pleasure of being owned by two Gloucestershire Old Spot Gilts who will be ready soon for breeding we have a Muriel and a Freda both sired by a Patrick Boar can anyone please advise us on what line of Boar we need to look at to start our own lines. We will appreciate any advice.

    Hi Karon
You can use any boar so long as he is not related to your girls.
Personally I would not use a Patrick as that’s their father’s line but any of the other three boars is fine.
More often as not its what is available to you at the time they need serving.
I would start putting it about that you’re looking to use a boar giving an approx month and see what you get back. Make sure you give a phone number or email address as a lot of people don’t/won’t post a reply on an open forum.
HTH & good luck with your girls exciting times ahead x
