Another herd of pedigree Gloucestershire Old Spots today joins the list of elite herds able to label their produce with the words ‘Traditionally Farmed GOS Pork’ alongside the European TSG (Traditional Speciality Guaranteed) logo.

Merrywood Farm Ltd based near Chertsey in Surrey has been approved under the European initiative that protects products such as champagne and parma ham, having been inspected earlier this month. All stock are registered pedigree and the standards meet the demanding levels set regarding welfare and stockmanship for non-intensive production.

Merrywood Farm Ltd are just constructing their own cutting room facilities so that the whole operation can be carried out in house. At present stock is sold at local markets at Windsor and Wokingham and shows but customers can collect from the farm as well.
