Today we have received the sad news that our Founder Richard Lutwyche has passed away after a short illness.

Richard organised the very first meeting of the Club in 1990 and has over the years made a huge impact on the fortunes of the Gloucestershire Old Spot pig breed leading the fight against supermarkets imposters and working for over ten years on securing EU protection for the breed among many other achievements.

We have been most fortunate to have such an incredible person to lead the Club. His knowledge and wisdom will be sorely missed along with the professional and gentlemanly manner in which he conducted himself in the service of the Club.

We will be producing a commemorative issue of Spot Press to celebrate his remarkable contribution to our breed.

Richard’s funeral will be in July but due to Covid restrictions will be limited to close family and friends.

We are sure you will share our sadness at this news and join us in extending our deepest sympathies to his wife Valerie.

Yours sincerely
