Once again Brian Kelly and his show team were out again flying the flag for Gloucestershire Old Spots in Northern Ireland at the Royal Balmoral Show and did not disappoint.
Forthill Ellen won the GOS Sow class before going on to be Traditional Breed Champion.
She was also placed as reserve in the Balmoral Pig Interbreed competition only beaten by a Large White boar, a wonderful achievement for a coloured pig following in the trotters of Ampneyknowle Princess Freda’s win at Three Counties last year.
‘Jenny’ as she is known at home is currently in pig with her fifth litter to a Deepark boar using fifteen year old semen from the frozen semen project. She is due to farrow in July so we won’t be seeing her at this years GYS.
As you can see from the pictures below Jenny tried to have a snooze during her photo call but the demands of the assembled press meant she had to sit up and take a bow!
